Each session gives rise to empowering discussions and allows girls to share their beliefs, views and opinions while building valuable social connections and self-confidence.

The Weekly-5 segment is an online newsletter where we choose an influential woman every month to give 5 motivating and inspiring words of advice to our audience. This is to encourage young women from different walks of life and allow them to see representation in different career spaces.

The Faces Behind Girl Chat

Hello, I’m Sarah Manyok, one of the faces behind Girl Chat!

I’m 24 years old, and a Biomedical Science Graduate, I’m an individual who shows a deep love for politics and female empowerment, I’m also an Entrepreneur, Philanthropist but most importantly I am someone who advocates for young girls whether it’s empowering and mentoring the youth of my community through Girl Chat or fighting for females education and gender equality not only in Melbourne, Australia but all over the world.

Hey guys, my name is Sobur Dhieu

I’m 23 years old and in my second year of my Juris Doctor Degree at the University of Melbourne. I am passionate about justice, especially in the context of African women’s rights and love being involved in creating awareness and change in my local community. My hobbies are creative writing, playing the piano and spending time with friends and family.

Hi all, my name is Abak Dhieu

I’m a recent Architect graduate and I’m the current Head of Digital Marketing and Demographic Research at both African Youth Initiative and Girl Chat. I have a keen eye for design and fashion and run my own clothing business specialising in African print designs called ‘Via Apparel’.
